Russell L. Jacobson, 95, Sherwood, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sherwood, with visitation from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Gary Markworth will officiate. Burial will follow in Sherwood Cemetery where military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 153 – Pittsville. Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Joseph, Mitchell, Matthew, Kendall, Zac, and Brent and honorary pallbearers, Hudson, Dalton, Logan, Levi and Talon. Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Russell was born on July 7, 1928 in Rockford, IL to Joseph and Theresa (Gehre) Jacobson. He served in the United States Army from April 1951 to April 1952. On July 3, 1954 he was united in marriage to Vivian Ritter. She passed away on November 27, 2016.
Russell was very calm and extremely hard working. He enjoyed hunting, going to the casino, and caring for all of his cats on the farm.
He is survived by his children, Jeff (Dixie) Jacobson, James Jacobson and Lisa Seebruck. He is also survived by grandchildren, Janalee (Matt) Darr, Joseph (Crystal) Jacobson, Mitchelle Jacobson, Nicole (Josh) Lechner, Heather (Kendall) Kuehn, Zachary Seebruck (Alicia) and Brent Seebruck (Carisa) and 17 great grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers, Earl Jacobson of Rockford and Jerry (Alene) Jacobson of Pittsville.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Dorothy Schwanebeck and brothers, George “Lavern” Jacobson and Richard Jacobson Sr.
