Ruth M. Ress, age 86, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at her home in the Town of McMillan with family at her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Town of McMillan, Marathon County, with Rev. Wayne Oblender officiating. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday at the church.
Ruth was born on July 1, 1938, in Marshfield, to Theodore and Ethel (Kaetterhenry) Knutson and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. She was united in marriage to Lloyd E. “Sonny” Ress on June 21, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield.
Ruthy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles, game shows, playing cards, dancing with her husband, hummingbirds, bird watching, and sweets. She was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lloyd “Sonny” and their children, Danny Ress of Marshfield, Lori Ress (David Felton), and Donn (Denise) Ress, all of Spencer. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kim Ress, Stefanie Ress (Jerrod Field), Melissa Ress, David Ress, Tyler (Stacey) Ress, and Daniel (Melody) Ress, and two great grandchildren, Andrew and Ezra Ress. She is further survived by siblings, James Knutson of Milwaukee, Gloria Newmier of Wausau, Anita Seehafer of Marshfield and Bonnie Knutson-Schultz of Germantown, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Delores Gossen, Richard Knutson, Gordon Knutson, John Knutson and Dennis Knutson.
