Sally A. Fry at the age of 82, passed away September18, 2022, at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at Martens / Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Sally was born August 15th, 1940, to Ruth and William Hetze Jr. of Milladore, WI. She attended Mill Creek Grade School and Rudolph High School. She married Don Zabel January 25th, 1956. Together they had 6 children and later divorced. Sally later married Herb Fry on December15th, 1967. Herb passed on January 28th, 1972.
Sally was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother who enjoyed being outside playing with her flowers and enjoying the wildlife. She enjoyed ice skating, snowmobiling, horseback riding and going for walks. In years past she owned and operated Sally’s Saloon in Milladore, where she became quite the pool shark. She worked at many local taverns with her last place of employment being Hamm’s Ballroom.
She is survived by her children Debra/George Derfus of Marshfield, Larry Zabel of Marshfield, Peggy/Keith Ule of Auburndale, Donna Zabel of Milladore and Danny/Jenny Zabel of Milladore. Her siblings Marian/Richard Hoffman, Donald Hetze, Jim Hetze and Mike/Lori Hetze. Grandchildren, Stacy/Paul Peterson, Ken Clark Jr, Devin Zabel, Jena Zabel, Jamie/Ryan Horswill, Amanda Ule, Scott Doescher, Duane Hamm, and Nick Zabel, 14 Great Grandchildren, one Great, Great grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Herb Fry, son Brian Zabel, parents Ruth/William Hetze Jr., and brother Richard Hetze.
