Sandra A. Eckes, 78, Marshfield, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, November 12, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. James Weighner officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time on Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church.
Sandra was born on February 23, 1943 in Marshfield, to Norman and Genevieve “Jean” (Binder) Eckes. She was a 1961 graduate of Columbus High School and a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, both in Marshfield.
Sandi began her nursing career as an OB nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, in 1964 and then joined the neonatal ICU care team when it opened in 1970. She cared for and saved hundreds of babies through her 38 years in NICU and loved every single one of them. She retired in 2008 after 44 years in nursing.
She is survived by sisters, Paulette (Neil) Riedel, Deborah Folz, and Lana LaSee, and a brother, Todd (Donna) Eckes and a sister-in-law, Elaine Eckes and many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Larry Eckes, and a brother-in-law, Dale Folz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House.
