Stanley J. Knetter Jr., 72, of Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at his home with his wife at his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Thelen officiating. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitation will take place from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.

Stanley was born on July 26, 1951, in Marshfield to Stanley Sr. and Rita H. (Zinthefer) Knetter. He graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in 1970. Stanley served in the U.S. Army on February 5, 1971, stationed in Germany as a military police. Stanley was honorably discharged on February 4, 1973. Following his time in the Army, he married the former Sandra Kay Dassow on November 7, 1981, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford.

Stanley was a truck driver for Hub City Foods, Fleming, Wayne Transport, and Rock Oil.
Stanley enjoyed playing hockey at the Marshfield Youth Hockey Association, attending Tuesday morning coffee with friends, and taking care of the chickens.

Stanley liked many things including birds, gardening, steam tractors, and taking trips to many different parks, wineries, waterfalls, and cheese factories.

He is survived by his wife Sandi of almost 42 years, son Joseph (Erin) Knetter of Granton, daughter Rebecca (Peter) Knetter of Minnesota, and his three granddaughters: Ella and Addalynn Knetter and Jayla Knetter Brown. Stanley liked the name JaJa, a Polish word meaning Grandpa.

Stanley is further survived by his sisters Diane (Robert) Gollonik of Plover and Mary Fredrick (Steve Breu) of Auburndale, and sister-in-law Linda Knetter of Marshfield, Marge Zaves of Phillips, Joyce Jenkins of Medford, Sue Miicke of Medford, Kathy (Orin) Wegerer of Withee, Jan Hassel of Medford, and Marcie Fick of Milwaukee.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald, Eugene and Jerald “Jerry” Knetter, brother-in-law Alan Hart, Richard Dassow, Bob Spaulding, David Zaves, Roger Jenkins, Dave Miicke, Jack Hassel, Wayne Fick, sister-in-law Gina Knetter, Donna Spaulding, and parent in law Herbert and Alma (Kretschmer) Dassow.

Memorials are appreciated and will be designated at a later date.

Special Thanks to Aspirus Cancer Center and the inpatient oncology department, Dr. Niaz Haque MD Oncology, Sherri Meyer Aspirus Clinic in Marshfield, and the many professionals, family, and friends who helped take care and support Stanley.
