Vincent E. Weber, 85, Marshfield, passed away peacefully while listening to the Milwaukee Brewers. Both won their victories on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Town of McMillan, Marathon County, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am on Wednesday until service time. Rev. Douglas Westenberg will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery, where military rites will be conducted, and his six grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Vincent Edward Weber was born on May 15, 1934 and raised in the Town of McMillan, Marathon County, the son of Frank and Elsie (Tews) Weber.
Vince married Mary Katherine Sersch on August 20, 1955 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. They had four lovely, beautiful daughters. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at Island Casino, Escanaba, Michigan. She passed away on December 29, 2016 and they were married 61 years.
Vince worked various jobs, purchased a milk route in 1958 and also farmed during this time. In 1966 he started as a welder at Felker Brothers Manufacturing and retired in 1999 after 33 years. He continued working at Roehl Transport for 15 years, retiring again in April 2016.
Vince helped to organize and was a member of McMillan Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the McMillan Town Board for over 20 years. He served in various positions from financial secretary to chairman of the board at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the church choir for many years. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He also cheered on the Green Bay Packers but his true love were the Milwaukee Brewers.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Ann (Dirk) Bauer, Doreen Lynn (Greg) Fandrey, Donna Jean (Brian) Schalow and Danette Marie (Keith) Jaeger. The Weber girls blessed him with eight grandchildren, Jordan (Liz) Bauer, Tyler (Leah), Brandon and Emily Mary Fandrey, Aaron (Nicole) and Ryan Schalow, and Alexandra and Samuel Jaeger and one great grandson, Braxton Schalow. He is also survived by siblings, Melvin Weber, Dora (Wilmer) Schmelzer, Joyce (Melvin) Gotz, Arlene Schweiso, Diane (Donald) Borgen and Arlen Weber. He is further survived by in-laws, Beverly (William) Welch, Nancy Mathewson, Judy Sersch, Karen Sersch and Marylee Sersch and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a granddaughter and many siblings.
The family would like to extend deep appreciation for the wonderful compassionate care given by Dr. Kelli Wehman-Tubbs and the staff at Palliative Care and House of the Dove.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting memorials in Vince’s name to be used toward St. Peter’s parish hall kitchen cupboards.
