Violet was born in Waukegan, Illinois, to Jack and Vieno (Nevanpaa) Frantti. Her father passed away early in Vi and her sister Helen’s life, and they were raised solely by their mother. After graduating high school in Iron River, MI, she moved to Chicago to work. Vi moved back to her hometown and worked as a waitress at Mertens Café where she met the love of her life, but it wasn’t love at first sight. Vi always thought Joe was a show-off and a terrible tipper! She was told by her boss to go on a double date with Joe being her date and she agreed reluctantly. Long story short, they hit it off and she and Joseph P. Charron were married a year later on May 3, 1947, at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Iron River, Michigan. He died on January 9, 2002.
When the youngest of their eight children finally started school Violet joined the work force again landing a job as a Wood County Health Care nursing assistant, a job she truly loved. It was a real pleasure for her to help people in need and she worked there until her retirement.
Vi was a member of the Sacred Heart Christian Mothers where she served as the first financial secretary. She loved traveling, mostly to see family but did sneak away with her husband and sister to Las Vegas. She liked camping, reading and cards, especially pinochle with their dear friends Martin and Delores Jacobs. She loved visiting with her lifelong friend Mary Guzowski. Violet was a sweet loving person and will truly be missed. Her best lesson in life and should be for everyone is: family and God is everything and we are very blessed.
She is survived by her children, Penny (Mike) Youngs of Marshfield, Stanley (Marie) Charron of Marshfield, Ann (Ken) Bohnert of Hewitt, Steve (Elwen) Charron of Palmer, AK, Joseph (Cindy) Charron of Marshfield, John (Kathy) Charron of Hewitt and James (Janine) Charron of Marshfield. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her niece, Karen (Tom) Kloss and nephew Kevin (Sue) Kotas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Arthur Wayne in infancy, stepfather Viner, known as grandpa and his wife Marge and her sister Helen (Clare) Crowly.
