Virgene L. “Jean” Bushman, 93, Marshfield, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Wells Nature View Assisted Living on South Adams Avenue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, September 14 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Douglas Robertson officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Jean was born on December 6, 1924 in Auburndale to John and Augusta (Panzloff) Mews. She was united in marriage to Ambrose P. “Amber” Bushman on February 7, 1942 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids. He died on November 24, 1999.

Jean worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield for 23 years and volunteered for several years following her retirement.

Her family was her life. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joys and she loved spending time with them. Many meals were partaken at Grandma’s house, not only for holidays or special occasions, but every Sunday after church as well. Everyone and anyone was welcome for lunch and spend a few hours laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Mom never forgot family or friends’ birthdays and loved sending out cards for all occasions. Days before she passed she remembered one of her great-grandkids birthdays and insisted she get that card to her.

Jean is survived by her children, Beverly Stoflet, Bob (Cheryl) Bushman, Nancy (Gene) Hill, Bonnie Gripentrog, Dave (Diane) Bushman, Darvy (Konny) Bushman and Sandy (John) Bilgrien, all of Marshfield. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and her brother, Sylvester Mews.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Gina Marie Hill, grandson, Trai Whetstone, son-in-law, Jon Gripentrog, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

The family would like to thank Wells Nature View, Ministry Hospice and the Marshfield Medical Center for their excellent care.
