Virgil H. Christiansen, son of Harley and Arlie Christiansen, 86 Marshfield, WI went to his heavenly home April 7, 2025 at 3 Oaks Health and Rehab Center of Marshfield.
Virgil was born at home in the town of Brighton, Marathon County on August 27, 1938. He graduated from Colby High School in 1958 and went on to school to become a certified welder fabricator. His first job was in Milwaukee, WI until his return to Marshfield where he worked at several places: Baslers, Marshfield Homes, and Paget Equipment as a welder fabricator. He and his friend built and ran the Sward in Colby, WI. He also worked as a night supervisor at Figi’s. He worked at Norwood Health Center for a short while. Before retirement he was a dispatcher and driver for Radio Cab in Marshfield, a job he really enjoyed, especially picking up his regulars.
He enlisted in the National Guard 32nd Infantry Division where he became a Sargent. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington from 61-62 during the Berlin Crisis.
He loved playing his guitar especially with friends. He also was in the band called The Saphires. He also enjoyed going to auctions and looking for that special antique piece of cut glass.
He married Dawn Watson (Meyers) on October 26, 1979 and they had many happy years being together. He was happiest when he’d see his children and loved his family get-togethers and the time he spent with his grandsons going to the park, McDonalds, and Melody Gardens for that delicious ice cream.
He loved his dogs, especially his boxers and had many of them during his lifetime.
Virgil is survived by his wife Dawn, his sons Kelly (Judy) Christiansen, Kevin Christiansen, Michael (Dawn) Watson, and Kimberly Kope; grandchildren Hunter, Alex, Zach, and Lexi. He is further survived by nieces Marsha Christiansen and Kelly (Donald) Saylor; nephews Randy and Todd Christiansen and Robby Lieber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerome, sister-in-law Diane, and niece Gail.
