Obituary for Wendelin David

Wendelin A. David, age 82, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, where a gathering for family and friends will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Columbarium, Marshfield, where military rites will be held conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Wendelin was born on December 18, 1941, in Marshfield, to Wendelin A. and Thecla (Youngwirth) David. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and was a1959 graduate of Columbus High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving active duty from November 2, 1959, until his honorable discharge on October 28, 1961. He served in the Reserves before and after active duty until March 31, 1965. After his discharge from active duty, he was employed as produce manager at North Parkway Grocery in Marshfield and then became employed at Felker Brothers Company in Marshfield, where he retired as welding supervisor in 2005 after 38 years. He married Dianne M. Graff on September 17, 1966, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Wendle was a long-time member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church where he served as an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society where he served as treasurer. He was an honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Marshfield Elks. He collected coins, was an avid golfer and played pickle ball. He and Dianne went to the YMCA daily.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dianne and their son, Trent (Kimberly) David of Oviedo, FL and two grandchildren, Tyler and Brooke David. He is further survived by sisters, Rosemary Heggelund and Carol (John) Berg, all of Marshfield, and sisters-in-law, Theresa and Joan David.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Sylvia (Donald) Drews, Cecilia (Charles) Trowbridge, brothers, Willis (Jeanne) David, Daniel (Sylvia) David, Jerry David, Jack David, brother-in-law, Gene Heggelund, and sister-in-law, Leoneze Smith.
