Wenzel “Windy” was born on September 3, 1939 in Auburndale to Wenzel and Florence (Carolfi) Karl, Sr. He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School in Auburndale. Before he was married he was employed in construction at various locations in Wisconsin. He married Clarice C. Ledden on April 27, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Auburndale. After marrying Clarice, they purchased what would be known as “Karl Farms” in the town of Auburndale. Windy and Clarice farmed there for 45 years until his retirement when his son Todd took over and he continued to help until the present time.

In his younger years, Windy enjoyed being a part of snowmobile clubs, racing motorcycles and snowmobiles. He loved serving for his community and church. For many years, he served as the Supervisor for the Town of Auburndale. Windy was a long time volunteer at the church fish fries where he could be found causing trouble by the fryers. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799 and a member of St. Mary’s Holy Name Society. From 1968-2019, he spent one week a year with his sons and daughters, grandchildren and many friends fishing in Nestor Falls Canada. Out of all of his ventures in life, Windy enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren the most. Whether it was watching them show fair animals, bumming them around in the van while listening and enjoying his polka music or cheering for them in their sports, he was happiest with Clarice watching their children and grandchildren live their lives.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clarice and their seven children and 25 grandchildren, Todd Karl (Chelsey, Nicole (Wylie Steele), Tiffany, Sheree); Scott (Joyce) Karl (Christopher (Claire), Tyler, Cheyenne (Dylan) Schubert); Daniel Karl; John (Jeanine) Karl (Samantha, Stafani, Kali, Jordyn); Jodi (Jon) Griepentrog (Hayley Sue, Trayton, Haley Rain (Logan Arndt); Jill (Paul) Hasenohrl (Samuel, Isaiah, Victoria, Lilly, Gracie, Rose, Ava); and Robert (Denise) Karl (Cassandra, Pierce, Vernon) and 2 great grandchildren, Waylon Steele and Presley Schubert. He is survived by his sisters, Helen (Jerome) Andres and Annette Deuel and a brother Ronald (Tammi Jenkins) Karl.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Robert Gerard Karl, and brothers, Martin, James, Richard and Francis Karl.

Memorials may be designated to St. Mary’s Religious Education Program.
