William “Bill” Brueggen, age 66, passed away on November 23, 2024, in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hewitt, Wisconsin, with Father Angi officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
Bill was born on April 4, 1958, to Kenneth and Cleo (Schiferl) Brueggen. He attended Marshfield schools and graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1976. Following graduation, Bill served in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, he spent many years living in the Southern United States before returning to Marshfield in 2002.
Bill was a man of diverse interests and hobbies. He enjoyed history, old country music, word searches, and spicy food—famously carrying his own bottle of hot sauce wherever he went. He was particularly known for his impressive collection of rodeo belt buckles and was always most comfortable in his signature blue jeans. In his honor, those attending his funeral are encouraged to dress casually or wear their favorite blue jeans.
Bill is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Cleo, and his siblings Joe (Lisa) Brueggen, Marie (Randy) Walsh, Geno (Linda) Brueggen, Dale (Alice) Brueggen, Kate (Tim) Jackan, and Dan (Wendi) Brueggen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Leo and Lucille Schiferl and William and Kate Brueggen, as well as his step-grandma Jane Schiferl.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Geno and Linda Brueggen for their loving care and support, especially during Bill’s final weeks.
