Obituary of Raymond Griep

Raymond Donald Griep, age 96 of Marshfield was escorted home on Monday, July 22, 2019 while surrounded by his family.

Memorial services for Ray will be held at Zion United Methodist Church, 2106 N. Peach Avenue, Marshfield on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Hyeok Won Kwon officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour before the time of service at the church. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield.

Ray (Donnie) was born in Loyal, WI on June 13, 1923 to Herman and Esther (Miller) Griep. He attended Neillsville Schools. Ray is one of five children. He married Eleanor Bandt on February 7, 1953.

Ray served in the Army and was active duty in Korea from January 1949 and honorably discharged June 1953.

Ray was employed by Parkin’s Dairy, Rollohome, and Figi’s.

He was an avid camper and member of Good Sam Camping Club and Winnebago International Travelers. He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading Western novels, playing cards and woodworking.

Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eleanor (Bandt); four daughters Sandra (Tim) Smith, Marshfield, Debora (Jim) Castellano, Pittsville, Laurie (Dave) Kremer, Marshfield, Teresa (Jeff) Hederer, Stafford, Virginia, and one son Rick (Mary) Griep, Marshfield. He is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Riana (Smith) and Randy Carolfi-Jimi Genett and Morgan; Adam and Marie Walsh-Gavin and Colin; Sara Walsh Dallman and friend Jacob Karbowski-Damon, Courtney, Logan; McKenzi and Bryan Rank- Kamryn and Braylon; Casey and Alisha Griep- Arianna; Travis Kremer; Tiffany- Brailynn Rae, Kyra, Zarianna; Tanya and friend Anthony Damask-Aubrey Damask; Brad and Cimarron Hederer; Kerri and Brandon Avery; Zachary; Tia and Nicholas Iverson.

Ray is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, he is further survived by two sisters Doris Martin of Ladysmith and Bonnie Weix of Spencer, a Sister-in-law Carol Bandt, Phillips, Brother-in-law, Clayton Carter, Minneapolis, MN.

He was proceeded in death by father and mother Herman and Esther Griep, Brother, Edwin Griep, Sisters Clara Ullmann, Pearl (Peggy) Ripke, Great grandson Zayden Ray Kremer Weber. A memorial designation will be established at a later date
