Officer Cleared in Loyal Shooting

(OnFocus) The Marathon County officer who fatally shot a suspect after a standoff in Loyal on Sept. 13 will not be charged.

Deputy Russell Gage was placed on paid administrative leave per department policy after the incident.

Robert Domine, 77, fled on foot after an attempted traffic stop on Sept. 11 and was later found at his Loyal residence the following afternoon. A long standoff between law enforcement and Domine continued into the morning. During that standoff, Domine fired on law enforcement and injured a Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy.

After gas was deployed, Domine again fired at responders and was injured in return fire. He later succumbed to his injuries.
