One Killed in Saratoga House Fire

SARATOGA, WI (OnFocus) – On Monday, April 4, 2022 at approximately 10:06 a.m., Wood County Central Dispatch received a call of a house fire in the Town of Saratoga, Wood County, Wisconsin.

When fire and law enforcement personnel arrived, they discovered a single family home with an active fire. As fire crews attempted to control the fire, a victim was located inside the residence.

The victim was transported to Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin where they later died. The result of death and the cause of the fire are still under investigation at this time by the Wood County Sheriffs Department and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.

The Wood County Sheriffs Department was assisted on scene by the Saratoga Fire Department, Nekoosa Fire Department, Port Edwards Fire Department, Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department, Grand Rapids Fire Department, Nekoosa Police Department, and Wood County Sheriff Rescue.
