OnFocus Athlete of the Week, August 18 – August 24

• Caleb Zick, Rosholt Football – Zick filled up the stat sheet for the Hornets in their Week 1 22-12 win over Manawa. Zick rushed for a game-high 136 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, and collected two receptions for 63 yards. Zick also netted a pair of interceptions in the win.
• True Thurs, Marathon Football – Thurs had  big night for Marathon in the Raiders’ 27-20 Week 1 win over Pittsville. Thurs completed 14 of 26 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns. The signal-caller also led the Raiders on the ground, rushing for 53 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown.
• Jett Schoenherr, Stratford Football – The Tigers began their title defense with a big win at home against powerhouse Mosinee, 30-6. Leading 7-0 with under 7 minutes remaining in the first half, Schoenherr’s speed led to Stratford’s second score. The senior wide out returned a punt as if he were shot out of a cannon, down to Mosinee’s 16 yard line. Schoenherr then collected a 16 yard touchdown pass from Jack Tubbs and the Tigers were flying.
• Jesse Napgezek, Wausau East Football – Napgezek pulled down 5 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown as the Lumberjacks began the 2024 season with a 20-19 clipping of Westby.
• Payton Pingel, Hudson Football – Pingel rushed for 142 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns as Hudson opened the season with a 56-20 win over Eau Claire Memorial.
