Athlete of the Week Nominees, Week of December 6 – December 12
- Cooper Diedrich, Athens Boys Basketball – Diedrich began the week with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists as the Blue Jays defeated Abbotsford, 65-49. Diedrich then scored 22 points and pulled down 5 rebounds as Athens nipped Phillips, 52-49.
- Beau Svoke / Colton Hall, D.C. Everest Boys Basketball – Everest had a pair of WVC wins this week, with Svoke and Hall coming up big. Svoke had 17 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals in Everest’s 55-52 win over Marshfield. Hall then poured in 29 points, draining 6 of 9 three pointers combined with 7 rebounds and 6 assists as the Evergreens nipped SPASH 80-79.
- Mason Prey, Newman Catholic Boys Basketball – Prey had 24 points on 9 of 14 shooting to go with 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the Cardinals’ 70-55 win over Marathon. Prey then had 11 points and dished out 6 assists as Newman took care of Abbotsford, 65-47.
- Breanna Ackley, Stratford Girls Basketball – Stratford improved to 4-1 on the season, with Ackley proving to be a difference maker. The Tigers handled Athens 65-44 and in the Tigers’ 54-31 win over Marathon, Ackley had 25 points and 9 rebounds, 6 steals, and 3 blocks.
- Eden Jacobson / Emmit Konieczny, Columbus Catholic Boys Basketball – The Dons’ duo each had a huge game as Columbus moved to 3-0. Jacobson had 27 points and 17 rebounds as Columbus defeated Pacelli, 79-64. Konieczny then poured in 33 points in the Dons’ 78-74 overtime win over Colby.
