Marshfield (OnFocus) – Great performances from area athletes deserve to be celebrated. Check out some of the top performers for this past week, and be sure to vote for the top performer!
Athlete of the Week Nominees, Week of January 17 – January 23
- Jadon Nienast, Columbus Catholic Boys Basketball – Nienast came up big for the Dons in their 90-87 win over Fall Creek. Columbus trailed 39-27 at halftime but stormed back for a huge 63 point second half, and Nienast poured in 30 points to fuel the win.
- Myles Jensen, Marshfield Boys Swimming – Even though the Tigers were not able to compete in the WVC Meet, Jensen was recognized for his dominance in the pool this year, being named the WVC Swimmer of the Year.
- Wes Peplinski, Pacelli Boys Basketball – Peplinski led the Cardinals to a pair of wins this week: 84-66 over Gresham and a big 55-48 win over a tough ranked Port Edwards team. Peplinski is averaging 21.4 point, 8 rebounds and 3.1 assists, and was named a semifinalist for WSN’s Senior Boys Basketball Wing Award.
- Brennan Neitzel/Benjamin Halambeck, DC Everest Boys Swimming – Neitzel (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly) and Halambeck (100 backstroke, 200 IM) each claimed a pair of first place finishes at the WVC Swim Meet.
- Konnor Pilger, SPASH Boys Swimming – Pilger claimed WVC titles in the 200 and 500 freestyle and now prepares for postseason action looking to advance.
