Marshfield (OnFocus) – Great performances from area athletes deserve to be celebrated. Check out some of the top performers for this past week, and be sure to vote for the top performer!
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, June 20 – June 26
- Kate Fitzgerald/Claire Selenske/Cyle Kowalski, Mosinee Track – The trio of Mosinee athletes each came away with three top ten finishes at the Division 2 State Track Meet. Fitzgerald was 3rd in the 200 M Dash and Selenske took 4th in the 300 M Hurdles, and the pair were part of Mosinee’s 4X200 and 4X400 M Relays. Kowalski was 7th in both the 100 M Dash and Long Jump, and was a member of Mosinee’s 2nd place finish in Mosinee’s 4X200 M Relay.
- Noah Eckelberg, Columbus Catholic Boys Track – Eckelberg claimed four first place finishes as the WIAA State Track Meet, taking first in the 400 M, 800 M, and 1600 M Wheelchair Races. Eckelberg’s fourth win was a state record in the shot put, a throw of 25′ 10″.
- Danni Langseth, D.C. Everest Girls Track / Logan Cleary, Nekoosa Boys Track – This duo of throwers wowed at the WIAA State Track Meet. Langseth took first in both the shot put(over 4 feet) and discus(over 9 feet), winning by impressive margins. .Cleary won the shot put(over 2 feet) and finished second in the discus.
- Leah Zastrow, Spencer Girls Track / Caden Decker, Athens Boys Track – The duo capped off their track season with stellar performances on the pole vault. Decker took first and Zastrow took second at the WIAA Division 3 State Track Meet.
- Savannah Schley, Loyal Girls Track / Charlie McCarty, Newman Catholic Boys Track (Nominated Online) – Schley capped off her track career with a second place finish in the 400 M Run and took fourth place in the 800 M Run at the State Track Meet. McCarty finished second in the triple jump at state, with a leap of 6’3″.
