OnFocus Athlete of the Week, March 2 – March 15
- Evan Lord, Prentice Boys Basketball (nominated online) – Lord came up big for Prentice in leading the Bucs to sectional play. Prentice knocked off #3 Owen-Withee 68-59 with a 29 point performance in the regional semifinal and keyed a 60-53 win over #2 Bayfield in the regional final.
- Alyvia Dietsche, Marshfield Gymnastics/Brooks Hinson Boys Basketball – Dietsche landed on the podium for the Tigers at the WIAA State Gymnastics Meet, taking third place on the bars. Marshfield finished in fourth place in the team competition at state, their highest in school history. Hinson scored 22 points in a 58-47 sectional Semifinal win over Eau Claire Memorial and then notched 24 points in the 62-35 sectional final win over Kimberly, leading the Tigers to a state tournament berth.
- Jesse Napgezek, Wausau East Boys Basketball – The Lumberjacks punched their ticket to a Division 2 State berth, with Napgezek coming up big for Wausau East. Napgezek scored 20 points as East defeated New Richmond 70-68 in the sectional semifinal and then poured in a season-high 38 points as the Lumberjacks drubbed West Salem 82-45 in the sectional final.
- Jett Reilly, Tomahawk Boys Hockey – Tomahawk brought home a state title, downing the Amery Co-op 5-3 in the WIAA Division 2 Boys State Hockey Tournament. Reilly led the way for the Hatchets, picking up two goals and two assists in the title game.
- Sarah Shaw, Assumption Girls Basketball – Shaw collected 15 steals to set a Division 5 state tournament record. Shaw collected 12 steals in Assumption’s 61-36 win over Owen-Withee in the semifinal, and the Royals collected 33 steals, both single game records at state. Shaw then added 3 steals in the state final, where Assumption edged Barneveld 34-30 to another state championship for the Royals.
