OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 11 – September 17
- Yaroslav Myshchyshyn, Lakeland Boys Soccer(nominated online) – Lakeland’s junior forward and midfielder has 20 goals in 9 games this season, ten more than anyone else in the Great Northern Conference.
- Haylie Kluz, Mosinee Girls Swimming / Keegan Jirschele, Mosinee Football – Kluz has broken two school records this year, the first was the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:08.1. Kluz claimed her second school record with a time of 2:32.56 in the 200 IM. Jirschele had a monster performance in the second quarter, jumpstarting Mosinee in their 48-14 win over Lakeland. Jirschele had touchdown receptions of 67, 25 and 5 yards, and returned an interception 88 yards for a score.
- Aloysius Franzen, Stevens Point Boys Cross Country – Franzen beat the field in the Division 1 boys race at the Smiley CC Invitational, with a time of 15.57.5, and the Panthers came away with the Division 1 boys title.
- Marcus Getsinger, Pittsville Football – After 5 games, the Pittsville senior linebacker leads the state with 84 tackles, four more than anyone else.
- Conner Krach, Newman Catholic Football – The Cardinals came out firing on all cylinders, taking a 57-6 halftime lead over Port Edwards, and won 57-12. Krach had rushing scores of 1 and 19 yards, and collected three touchdown passes: 71 and 6 yards to Thomas Bates, and a 5 yard score to Eli Gustafson, as Newman improved to 4-0.
