OnFocus Edgar Wildcats Baseball Season Preview

• Key returners this season:
• Seniors: Keghan Hartway, Brady Stencil, Justin Davis
• Juniors: Brett Baumgartner, Marcus Huehnerfuss
• Sophomores: Jase Apfelbeck, Leyton Schuett
• All of these guys played roles last year and we are expecting a step forward from each and everyone of them going into 2023. We have some younger guys too that are looking to make an impact this year as they step into a Varsity spot.

• Strengths of your team:
• Ultimately our Pitching Staff and Defense is a strength of our team. Coming into the season we are feeling good about our pitching depth. We have 2 strong frontline starters followed by 4 guys that can be used as starters or relievers depending on the game. As the spring can get long and clustered with games we feel comfortable going into any week due to the fact that we are 6 pitchers deep and they can all pitch strikes and keep us in games.

• Conference outlook:
• Edgar is looking at being competitive and competing for a conference title again this year. Starting the year out strong will be a test as we play in a tough Marawood Conference South. You do not have time to make mistakes early in the year as each conference game is extremely important. If we can pitch strikes and put the ball in play we have a chance to do great things this year!

• Coaching staff:
• Head Coach: Connor Handrick (4th Year as Head Coach) (6th Year in the Program)
• Varsity Assistant: Mitch Mueller (3rd year)
• JV Head Coach/Varsity Assistant: Brock Handrick (1st Year)
