OnFocus Season Preview: Tri-County Penguins Baseball
Jay Wildner, Head Coach
Matthew Wildner, Asst Coach
Andrew Wildner, Volunteer Coach
Key Returners:
Jake Makaryk, Junior, 2nd Team All – Conference
Seth Hildbebrandt, Sophomore – Honorable mention
RJ Meddaugh, Sophomore
Conference Outlook:
The CWC-South is the best Div. 4 Conference in Wisconsin, with (2) teams in the top 5 and (3) in the Top 20.
Pittsville is as good as anyone in the state and my pick to win it all.
Pacelli will win their Sectional.
Rosholt has a solid team but not as deep as the other two.
Almond – Bancroft will be 4th if they stay healthy and eligible.
Port Edwards and Tri-County will scrap for 5th/6th place.
Wild Rose is a clear 7th place finisher.
Keys to Tri-County Success:
TC will be deep with adequate pitcher, but no ace.
Defense should improve vs last year.
We are still thin at catcher and the corners.
Bats will be weak in the beginning of the season and get better as the season progresses.
The faster the bats mature, the better the season will be.
Other:
We finished the school’s first varsity regular season in 6 years at 5-13 and gave Almond-Bancroft a scare in the tourney last year. We expect to be competitive against the middle of the conference this year as the culture is changing.
