Key Returners
We are returning quite a few players from the past year. We have a really strong senior leadership group including two of our team captains Kylie Groshek and Keeley Rosenfield. These two are probably two of the most level headed young adults that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Additionally, junior captain Ali Torhorst returns in net and will play a key role helping to integrate new faces into the back line and bring stability to the team. Also we will be looking for senior Camille Schoenberg to play a large role in the center of the park dictating the tempo and chipping in with a few goals.
Strengths of the Team
I’d say our main strength is to be able to mix it up in terms of tactics and looks. We are equally comfortable holding the ball for periods of time as we are testing the opposition defense by going long. This allows us to adapt to our opponents and find ways to play to our strengths and hopefully find success against a variety of fronts. Additionally, we have some surprising new faces in the likes of Freshman Isabelle Stevens and Amelia Castleberg that are ready to prove themselves and show everyone what they can do and have really helped to elevate the team and the players returning for this season.
Conference Outlook
While I think many will be viewing us as outsiders in conference, given the breakdown of our team and the work that we have put in so far, I think we have a lot of potential to surprise a few teams and cause a lot of headaches. If the girls approach the season with the right mindset and work hard every day in practice who knows how conference will shake out.
