Marshfield (OnFocus) – Great performances from area athletes deserve to be celebrated. Check out some of the top performers for this past week, and be sure to vote for the top performer!
OnFocus Team of the Week Nominees, Week of January 3 – January 9
- SPASH Girls Basketball – The Panthers drained a school record 16 three-pointers in their 75-39 win over Wausau East. SPASH was an amazing 16 of 28 from long range, a 57.1% clip that is tops in the state this season.
- Marathon Boys Basketball – Marathon picked up two more wins this week. Marathon downed Iola-Scandinavia 41-32 and 75-50 over Prentice. The Red Raiders have won ten in a row and are 11-1 this season.
- Athens Boys Basketball – The Blue Jays are on fire, picking up three more wins. After dropping their opening game of the season, Athens has rolled off ten wins in a row. The Blue Jays had wins of 72-61 over Wabeno/Laona, 60-54 over Stratford, and 71-45 over Tomahawk.
- Marshfield Boys Swimming – The Tigers have been cutting down the competition, picking up two more wins this week. Marshfield downed Wisconsin Rapids 125-45 and 116-53 over Onalaska. Keys to the wins have been Marshfield’s dominance in all three relays, fueled by the leadership of Sander Marty and Myles Jensen.
- Medford Boys/Girls Basketball – The Raiders’ Boys and Girls Basketball Teams are atop the standings in the GNC. The Medford girls picked up a pair of wins this week, downing Northland Pines 58-26 and Mosinee 47-43. The girls are 5-1 in the GNC, tied with Lakeland for first place. The boys are 12-0, 5-0 and in first in the GNC, gaining three more wins: 56-51 over Northland Pines, 62-51 against Mosinee, and 80-43 over Merrill.
