Marshfield – There are teams throughout central Wisconsin who are excelling and standing out above the rest.

Check out some of the top teams for this past week, and be sure to vote for the OnFocus Top Team!

Team of the Week Nominees, Week of September 20 – 27:

Colby Football – In their inaugural season as a member of the revamped Marawood Conference, the Hornets took it to Thorp early and often, gaining a decisive 54-6 win.

Spencer/Columbus Football – The Rockets began the season with their first game in the CWC Large Conference, and just like they did in the Cloverbelt, competed for all four quarters. Trailing  8-7 heading into the fourth quarter at Nekoosa, S/C erupted for 20 points to gain the win.

Wausau West Football – In a battle that goes back 50 years, West trounced cross-town rival East to claim the River Log.

OnFocus Athlete of the Week: September 20 – 27

Athens Volleyball – Trailing 2-0 in their match against Marawood rival Edgar, the Blue Jays had their opponent right where they wanted them. The deficit didn’t faze Athens, which came back to win the match 3-2 in a furious comeback.

Medford Football – The Raiders kicked off Great Northen Conference play by taking it to Hayward/Lac Courte, picking up a 52-7 win that barely tested the Raiders.

Stratford Football – The Tigers had quite a run the last two years, earning berths in the state championship game both times. After losing 21 of 22 starters from last year, the Tigers proved the cupboard isn’t bare, as Stratford’s move to the CWC Large began with a 35-12 win over Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Mosinee Football – The Indians held off a tough Lakeland squad to pick up a 25-16 Great Northern Conference win to start the season.

Voting ends Wednesday at 5:00 pm
