Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Two 17-year-old females were arrested Tuesday in connection with handwritten bomb threats discovered Monday on bathroom stalls at the Marshfield High School.

They face felony charges of making terroristic threats.

Following the conclusion of the incident, the School District of Marshfield stated it “takes matters of school safety and threats of school violence very seriously. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our great appreciation for the care and assistance we receive from the community in our collective effort to keep our students safe.”

The district also asked anyone who becomes aware of a threat to contact school administration, school staff, or law enforcement immediately. Tips can also be share anonymously through Wood County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-325-STOP (7867) or the P3 app.

Monday, Dec. 9:

3:45 p.m.: OnFocus receives a statement from a student that a potential bomb threat was written on stalls in multiple bathrooms at Marshfield High School. A submitted photo of one of the messages showed the word “bomb” followed by the date 12/18/19. According to the source, the bathrooms were locked and the messages were removed.

4:00 p.m.: OnFocus leaves a message for the school superintendent for further information regarding the messages. The Marshfield High School office is closed.

4:10 p.m.: OnFocus speaks with the school superintendent, who was not yet aware of the threats.

5:30 p.m.: OnFocus is informed there will be a statement from the school district.

5:40 p.m.: The school district releases its statement. Until the active investigation is concluded, OnFocus makes a determination not to release the photo of the threat.

Tuesday, Dec. 10:

11:00 p.m.: OnFocus is informed through a student tip of a rumor that an alleged second bomb threat was found written on a bathroom stall similar to the ones made on Monday. A message is left for the high school principal. OnFocus connects with Marshfield Police Department, which has not heard of this report and investigates.

12:15 p.m.: OnFocus is informed by Marshfield Police Department that the alleged second threat was a remnant from Monday that had not yet been removed. There was no second threat. No further information was yet available to be released regarding the active investigation.

1:42 p.m.: Marshfield Police Department releases info through its official Facebook page that two 17-year-old females were arrested on felony charges of making terroristic threats.

2:59 p.m.: The school district releases a statement following the conclusion of the incident.
