OnFocus Wisconsin Rapids Raiders Girls Soccer Season Preview
We lost a number of All Conference starters from last season, so there are some big shoes to fill. We have three returners that all were integral in winning our last conference title in 2021. Those returners are: Logan Vollert (Defender), Sydney Hayes (Midfield) and Kate Schaeffer (Forward), so we still retain some veteran experience on all three position levels of the field.
It’s a bit early to tell yet what our real strengths will be since we have our opener tonight (4-4-23). But we have hopes of being a tough out for all our opponents.
The Conference race looks to be pretty tight with plenty of usual suspects hoping to make a run at the title. I’m sure DC Everest has already been anointed as the favorite, with Wausau West and Marshfield close behind. And I believe this might be the year we see SPASH return to form. But we’ll see what happens. The game will decide. The game always decides.
This year we have Jake Hintz returning as Varsity Assistant and newly minted Samantha Powers helming the JV squad.
