Open-Line 9-1-1 Call Leads to Drug Arrest

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – A dispatcher received an open-line 9-1-1 call which resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old Wisconsin Rapids male on Saturday morning.

The call was placed to Wood County Dispatch at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday and the dispatcher was able to track the origin of the call to the Baymont Hotel in Marshfield. The dispatcher could overhear a male and a female talking about drug use and decided to send an officer over to check on the situation.

Upon arriving at the hotel, officers made contact with two people fitting the description given by the dispatcher and took the male into custody.

Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine will be forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.
