The Owen-Withee cross country teams recently competed in two large invite meets. The teams traveled to Colby on September 9th running against some very large schools and did well among all the runners. Colton Paczkowski led the way for the Blackhawks by earning 12th place in a time of 18:06. Mason Gay finished the 5K race in 18:23 which was good for 16th place just shy of a medal. Quinn Hatlestad finished in 50th with a time of 21:22, Steven Negron in 53rd place in 22:13, and Connor Hanson in 65th place in 23:50. The boys team earned 8th place in the team standings. The girls team was led by Ellie Petersen as she completed the race in 25:12 which earned her 31st place. Tegan Hatlestad finished 43rd with a time of 27:58.
The middle school runners competed in a 3200m race. Caleb Davis finished for the boys in 38th place with a time of 19:58. Evelyn Goessl led the middle school girls with a 5th place finish in a time of 14:34, Adelynn Petersen was 17th in 15:37, and Maddie Roberts was 42nd in 20:01.
The high school runners also competed in the Nightfall Classic at RiverEdge Golf Course on September 15th. Colton Paczkowski finished the night race in 11th with a time of 17:40 and Mason Gay ran a 17:54 which was good for 14th place. Quinn Hatlestad, Steven Negron, and Connor Hanson all ran their best times of the season so far with finishes of 20:45, 20:49, and 22:50 respectively. Quinn finished in 59th place, Steven was 61st, and Connor in 90th. Ellie Petersen and Tegan Hatlestad also ran their best races of the season. Ellie finished in 44th with a time of 23:50 and Tegan was 63rd with a 25:56 finishing time.
