Conference outlook

I anticipate Assumption and Iola will push to be number 1 in conference. Overall, I believe our conference will be as tough as normal and each game we have to be ready for.

Keys to your success on offense

Limit turnovers. Run the ball. Sustain blocks until play is over.

Keys to your success on defense

We need to really focus on doing the little things right. Knowing the alignment, assignment and then performing. Need to go fast and think less on defense.

Behind the scenes: Who are some of the people that help your program succeed?

Behind the scenes it’s the administration, parents, custodians, fans, alumni. All those groups help us on a week by week, day by day basis. From the ability to purchase new equipment, food for the players, help with fundraisers to having our practice field ready, it truly is a special place here at Pacelli.

What is your football program all about? How do you measure success?

Some may see success as wins, state titles, etc., which is great. Obviously the goal of each program is to win a few regular season games, perhaps win a conference championship and then maybe a state title. But the outcome we strive for is getting better every day, playing for each other and putting the team first.  Those life lessons come into play more than wins and losses. If we can teach the players to put others first and work hard because they want what’s best for their team and teammates and maybe not personal accolades, then I think we have done a fairly good job and had success along the way.
