Amherst Falcons’ Student-Athlete Amara Beaudoin excels for the Falcons  as a multi-sport athlete, and it’s on the volleyball court where she has ambitions to continue her craft in college. We take a closer look at Amara with our world-famous interview, ‘Pancakes or Waffles?’ to get a better idea at what makes Beaudoin ‘tick.’

OnFocus: What are your favorite subjects/classes and why?

Beaudoin: My favorite subject is English because I love to write and I’m good at it.   

Beaudoin: The best thing about being a student-athlete at Amherst is the amount of support you get from your peers and teachers. It’s a great feeling knowing that everyone is there for you.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

Beaudoin: My hobbies include volleyball, softball, track, hunting, fishing, water skiing, kayaking, taekwando, 4-H, and hanging out with my friends.  

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?

Beaudoin: My first favorite teacher was kindergarten teacher Mrs. Oleson. I liked her because she was super caring, had spirited energy and was always smiling. 

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?

The most unusual food I’ve eaten was deer heart.  

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

I like to listen to country music but mainly Morgan Wallen.

OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school?

My plan after high school is to attend college and play volleyball at a high level.

OnFocus:  If they made a movie about you, and your life, what would it be called?

The movie about me would be called “Small Town Sports Girl”

OnFocus: What sports do you play?

The sports I play are volleyball, softball and track.  

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

I would not want to be stranded on a deserted island with Helana Konkol because she would probably eat me. 

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

Some memorable moments I have as an athlete were hitting an out-of-the-park homerun at Nelson Park. Another special moment was my first time getting in on a varsity volleyball match as a freshman, making a kill and the crowd chanting “She’s a freshman!”

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams? My favorite athletes are Dana Rettke, April Ross and Alix Klineman . My favorite teams are the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers Volleyball and the Milwaukee Brewers.  

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Beaudoin: I like the feeling of making my family,friends and fans proud of me and the feeling of an adrenaline rush right after a big kill or block. 

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Amherst?

Beaudoin: The best thing about being a student-athlete at Amherst is the amount of support you get from your peers and teachers. It’s a great feeling knowing that everyone is there for you.

OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Beaudoin: The words of wisdom I would give other student-athletes is that your studies come first, enjoy your teammates, and make tons of memories with them.  

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?

Beaudoin: Waffles because it holds the syrup better.
