Pancakes or Waffles? Marshfield Student-Athlete Abby Pietsch Answers the Tough Questions

Marshfield Senior Student-Athlete Abby Pietsch is a standout for the Tigers’ Gymnastics Team, and we asked Pietsch to complete our world-famous interview,  ‘Pancakes or Waffles?’ to get a better idea of what makes her ‘tick.’

OnFocus: What are your favorite subjects/classes and why?  

Pietsch: English because I love reading different books and writing my thoughts

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?  

Pietsch:  Reading, hanging out with friends, traveling and taking care of animals

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Marshfield?

Pietsch: Getting to represent my school and show how strong we are as a team 

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?  

Pietsch: Mr.K because he made me feel really welcome when I first moved here in 3rd grade

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?  

Pietsch: Carrots and mustard together

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?  

Pietsch: Pop and country

OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school?  

Pietsch: Go to a 4 year university and get a degree in criminology

OnFocus:  If they made a movie about you, and your life, what would it be called?  

Pietsch: “Always on the Move Abby”

OnFocus: What sports do you play?   

Pietsch: Gymnastics but I also did soccer for a few years

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?  

Pietsch: Kiki

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?  

 Pietsch: Making a full routine and hearing all my friends, family and teammates cheer for me

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?  

Pietsch: Any college gymnastics team and Simone Biles

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?   

Pietsch: Getting to show them my skills that I’ve worked hard for and having them be proud of me

OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in sports? 

Pietsch: Getting concussions from stupid things like standing up and hitting a bar or walking on my hands then tripping myself and falling on my head. Not my finest moment

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Marshfield?

Pietsch: Getting to represent my school and show how strong we are as a team 


OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?  

 Pietsch: Just keep swimming just keep swimming. It will all be okay in the end

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?  

Pietsch: Waffles 100%
