OnFocus – On December 15 at 6:17pm, a man was walking northbound in the crosswalk in the east side of the intersection of East Becker at Peach Ave. According to the police report released on December 21, the man stated he pushed the crosswalk button and waited until the “walk” sign was illuminated.
He stated that he was almost to the center line when a driver southbound on peach made a left-hand turn to travel east on Becker Road.
The driver stated they did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk until his headlights shined on him, at which time the driver attempted to stop but was unable to before striking the pedestrian.
The pedestrian sustained injuries to his head, left arm, stomach area, and left knee. The drive was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
