Pedestrian Struck by Passing Train

The pedestrian who died after begin struck by a passing train the night of July 28 is identified as 34 year-old Anthony T. Carolfi of Marshfield, WI.

“The Marshfield Police Department extends its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Anthony during this difficult time,” the department stated.

Along with CN Railroad Police and the Wood County Coroner’s office, the MPD continue to investigate the events leading up to the incident. More info will be released upon completion of the investigation.

ORIGINAL STATEMENT

OnFocus (Marshfield, WI) The Marshfield Police Department and Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department responded to a call of pedestrian being struck by a passing train at the intersection of the train tracks with the 100 block of N. Central Ave on July 28, 2018 at 11:58 pm.

Responding officers located an adult male on the north side of the train tracks. The man did not have a pulse and was not breathing. Efforts to revive the man were not successful.

The pedestrian who died after being struck by a passing train Saturday evening is 34 year old Anthony T. Carolfi of Marshfield, WI.

Preliminary investigation indicates the man accidentally went in front of the train as it was beginning to pass. The lighting for the train arms was activated and functioning. The train horn had been sounded.

The Marshfield Police Department, along with CN Railroad Police and Wood County Coroner’s office, continue to investigate the events leading up to the incident. More information may be released upon completion of the investigation.
