New Pet Store Now Open in Marshfield
MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Marshfield officially has a new pet store and salon, with Pet Supplies Plus opening its newest location in the former Sears building on North Central Avenue. A Grand Opening celebration is scheduled for October 16 and 17.
Pet Supplies Plus is a pet specialty store focused on making it easier to get better products and services for pets. With over 550 locations in 35 states, the stores have a streamlined design, making it easy to navigate a wide assortment of natural foods, hard goods, live pets and pet services including grooming and a public pet wash.
“I’ve worked for other pet retailers before. Pet Supplies Plus is hometown-focused, down to earth, knowledgeable, and caring,” said Kim Crawford, Store Team Lead. “We genuinely care about the community and their pets. We’re excited to be here.”
Those who visit on Saturday, October 16 will receive a free scratch card with purchase, for a chance to win $5-$50 in gift cards. On Sunday, October 17, the first 100 neighbors will receive a free bag of dog or cat food. There will also be free nail trims offered all weekend.
“It’s going to be awesome!” said Crawford. “We are what the community needs as far as pets go and our Grand Opening is the kickoff for that. It will be unlike any other pet experience that people have had in the area. We have a fun, friendly, neighborhood feel. You’ll be impressed with all we have to offer.”
Also, with every purchase during the Grand Opening Weekend, each neighbor will receive a voting chip to vote for their favorite Grand Opening Partner. Marshfield Area Pet Shelter, Clark County Humane Society, and Marshfield Police Department’s K9 Unit will be represented. The Grand Opening Partner with the most voting chips at the end of Sunday the 17th will receive the $1,000 prize and the other two will get $250 for participating in the Grand Opening Weekend.
“We look forward to partnering with the humane society, dog parks and other animal welfare groups locally,” said Crawford. “We are working with local shelters to have adoptable animals in store, too.”
In addition to bringing the Marshfield area community a full line pet supplies store, Pet Supplies Plus will also provide live animals, a grooming salon, and a pet wash room for anyone to utilize.
“Our tag line is ‘Minus the Hassel.’ We have the right products and services for your pets and your pets needs,” said Crawford. “Our locations are smaller than the big box warehouse pet stores, making it easier to shop and our team members are there to help you find what works for your family’s needs.”
Pet Supplies Plus will provide full professional grooming services, which are much needed in the Marshfield area. The staff at The Laundromutt, formerly located at 912 S Central Avenue, have joined the Pet Supplies Plus team with owner Cicely Steinmetz assuming the role of Salon Leader.
“I’m really excited about a pet store and salon being here. This is going to be a huge thing and is so needed in our area. We can hold up to 10 groomers in the salon, so the hope is to have between 7-10 groomers to fulfill the needs of all of Marshfield area dogs,” said Steinmetz. “It’s also going to be great for training and even for young people to see what pet careers are out there. When I started learning how to groom, I had to go to Appleton. To be able to teach young people the ways of grooming right here is exciting.”
Steinmetz will be working closely with Deb Compton, the regional salon lead for Pet Supplies Plus. Compton, a Madison, WI native, is also known to be 1 of 10 of the best dog groomers in the country and recently competed on ABC’s newest prime time dog grooming competition show, “Pooch Perfect”, which aired on March 30, 2021.
“We are all so excited to learn from her,” said Steinmetz. “It’s a great learning experience and is going to help us hone our skills and provide the best possible services to local dogs.”
Anyone with grooming questions is welcome to attend the Grand Opening, as all grooming staff will be on-site.
