The Phillips and Abbotsford girls squared off in Marawood Conference Basketball Tuesday evening, with the Loggers pulling away for a 58-38 win.

Phillips led just 6-4 after five minutes of play, with the scrappy Falcons limiting the Loggers’ ability to combine quick scores with an uptempo game.

Once Phillips figured out Abbotsford’s half court defense, several easy baskets resulted in  a 15-4 in just two short minutes. When the Falcons clawed back to trail 21-11, it appeared the first half could be tight.

Phillips then went on a 15-4 to close the half, spearheaded by senior guard Jada Eggebrecht, who directed Phillips with her pinpoint passing. Eggebrecht led all scorers with 20 points.

The second half saw Phillips keep Abbotsford at bay, limiting the Falcons from  getting any closer than 20 points.

Phillips moves to 5-0 in the Marawood North, 8-2 overall.

Abbotsford is 3-3, 8-3 overall.
