Phillips Loggers’ standout student-athlete and 2023 graduate James Bruhn excelled throughout the seasons at Phillips. We take a closer look with our famous interview: Pancakes or Waffles?

OnFocus: What subjects/classes have been your favorite, and why?

Bruhn: Gym or shop class, didn’t have to use my brain

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Bruhn: You can make friends and family proud and you can prove people wrong.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

 Bruhn: Fishing, hunting, and working

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?

Bruhn: Ms. Mollman and Ms. Kleinhans, because they were always supportive and helped you if you ever needed it.

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?

Bruhn: I’m simple I don’t really eat unusual foods

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

 Bruhn: Either country or rap

OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school?

 Bruhn: Union construction

OnFocus:  If they made a movie about you, and your life,  what would it be called?

Bruhn: It would be so random I don’t even know

OnFocus: What sports did you play throughout your high school career?

 Bruhn: Football, baseball, wrestling

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

Bruhn: Any of them because some way or somehow we would find something dumb to do, but I’m sure we would have fun

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

All moments are memory’s playing and being coached by the people I have been.

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?

Bruhn: I didn’t look up to any athletes or teams because I wanted my team to be its own team and me to be my own athlete if that makes any sense

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Bruhn: You can make friends and family proud and you can prove people wrong.

OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in sports?

Bruhn:  Playing with the team I have there would be less usual moments then unusual, to many to list off but I wouldn’t trade it for anything

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete?

Bruhn: You will never fail a class

OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Bruhn: If you have goals don’t give up and work for them

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?

 Bruhn:  Pancakes  all day
