Abbotsford (OnFocus) – The Phillips Loggers swarming half court defense stymied Abbotsford all night long, and the visitors cruised to a convincing 86-46 Marawood Conference win over the Falcons.
Phillips proved on their first possession that they were ready for business, with Taber Fawley connecting from long range. The Loggers’ Nate Belan drained a three-pointer the next time down, and Phillips’ offense was already in high gear.
The story of the game, however, was the Loggers’ swarming 1-3-1 half court defense, which kept Abbotsford from getting good shots all game long and limited the Falcons to just 18 first half points.
Hunter Soyk led Abbotsford with 15 points and Cade Faber added 13 for the Falcons.
Nate Belan led Phillips with 26 points, including six three-pointers.
Phillips connected on 11 three-pointers on the evening.
