PITTSVILLE, WI (OnFocus) – The Pittsville Fire Company held a training session to help area departments prepare for an ice rescue on Monday, Jan. 24. The training allows emergency personnel to practice pulling someone out who has fallen through the ice.

The training was conducted using the backyard pond of Stan and Ellen Czaplinski. The subzero temperatures made for a realistic rescue situation as crew members were placed in the water while in wetsuits and crews had to use various techniques to get them out of the water safely.

Attending departments were: Neillsville, Remington, Richfield and Arpin along with Pittsville Fire Company members.
