PITTSVILLE FOOTBALL POUNDED BY COLBY
The Panther football team ran into a tough Colby squad and lost 43-16. The Panthers are next in action for the homecoming game on September 29 against Edgar
The Colby Hornets stung Pittsville on the first offensive play of the game running in a 65 yard touchdown. The Panthers couldn’t convert a short 4th down and gave the ball back. Colby marched down the field and ran in another TD. The score was Colby 14 Pittsville 0 after one quarter. Colby would add three rushing TDs in the second quarter to take a commanding 35-0 lead at halftime.
Pittsville came out strong in the second half with a great run by Dalton Darr and Jake Hardinger finding Kaden Schiller for Pittsville’s first score. Hardinger again found Schiller for the two point conversion to make the score 35-6. Colby answered on their next drive pounding the ball all the way down the field for another rushing touchdown. Score after three quarters was Colby 43 Pittsville 8. In the 4th quarter, Darr added a one yard TD plunge for Pittsville and Dawson Luther ran in the two point conversion to make the final score Colby 43 Pittsville 16.
Luther ran for 94 yards on 17 carries. Darr had 89 yards on 10 carries. Jake Hardinger was 3 for 13 for 36 yards and 1 TD. Kellen Getsinger had 2 catches for 15 yards. Schiller added 1 catch for 21 yards and a TD.
