Pool Features Include Waterslides, Climbing Wall
Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Marshfield is getting closer to the aquatic facility it’s been waiting for.
The latest concept designs for a new outdoor facility to replace Hefko Pool at 1805 S. Roddis Ave. feature two separate water vessels, altogether providing 15,000 square feet of water surface.
One will have swimming lanes and two diving boards, while the the second water body will include a climbing wall, basketball hoops, water play structure, a small lazy river, and two large waterslides.
Many shade structures plus an open air structure are included in the conceptual plans. The 4,500 square foot bathhouse includes a large lobby, family and ADA restrooms, concession stand, lockers, and an event room.
A final design will be prepared by December with bids awarded in February. Construction is set to begin in August 2020 with completion by July 2021, according to the project schedule.
At its Monday meeting, the Board of Public Works approved a Request for Proposals for Construction Manager services for the project. The purpose of the construction manager will be to keep the project within budget and on schedule, and act as a contact point between the City and the general contractor. The deadline to submit an RFP is September 6.
Private fundraising is underway to raise $3 million toward the $6 million facility, which will then be matched by the City. Hefko Pool was built in 1933, its last major renovation taking place in 1974.
Marshfield Area Community Foundation is acting as fiscal agent for the project. Ayres Associates Inc. is contracted for the architectural and engineering services.
