Originally offered for adoption, a black kitty rescued by a Platteville Police Department officer during the moon eclipse is joining his family.

Officer Matt Froiseth was viewing the blood moon on January 20 when he heard a loud meowing near Business HWY 151. He discovered it was coming from a ditch drifted over with three feet of snow and ventured in, only to find a small black kitten. The kitten later curled up in the warm squad car and didn’t leave the officer’s side.

The department offered the kitten to anyone who would like to claim the lucky kitten in a Facebook post. But after serious thought, Officer Froiseth decided he just “couldn’t say no” and decided to adopt his rescue.
