Plover Black Sox Defeats DCE Legion In Pitcher’s Duel

Both teams were strong on the mound Wednesday, but Plover Black Sox defeated DCE Legion 3-2. Jake Sankey allowed just two hits to DCE Legion.

An early lead helped propel Plover Black Sox to victory. Plover Black Sox scored on a single by Tommy Drohner in the first inning, a double by Jon Nafe in the second inning, and a groundout by Brycen Cashin in the second inning.

In the bottom of the first inning, Plover Black Sox tied things up at one. Drohner drove in one when Drohner singled.

Plover Black Sox pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Nafe doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Cashin grounded out, scoring one run.

Sankey got the win for Plover Black Sox. The righthander surrendered two runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.

Miles took the loss for DCE Legion. Miles lasted six innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out six.

Austin Beyer went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Plover Black Sox in hits.

Wessman led DCE Legion with two hits in three at bats. DCE Legion was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Evan Gartzke made the most plays with seven.
