May 18

A 42-year-old Marshfield male received information that a 19-year-old Marshfield male may have stolen a set of throwing knives from a local retail store. Contact was made with the male who admitted to stealing the item and returned it to this officer. The male currently has two open criminal cases, through Wood and Marathon County, with a special rule to not posses a dangerous weapon to include knives. Charges of Misdemeanor and Felony Bail Jumping and Retail Theft will be requested through Wood County District Attorney’s Office on the male.

May 21

The owner of a vehicle called to report that sometime during the listed timeframe his vehicle had the driver side keyed. The damage consisted of one deep scratch line from front quarter panel all the way to the rear quarter panel. The vehicle was parked while his daughter was attending school the day before. No suspects at this time or indications as to why the vehicle was keyed. Photos taken.

A 37-year-old Marshfield woman reported she is continually receiving harassing messages from her ex, a 35-year-old Sparta male. The male has been warned several times to stop contact with the female. Officers will be issuing and mailing a harassment citation to the male.

A local business owner reported his catalytic converter had been cut and removed from his work vehicle. Investigation to follow. In a separate incident, the Marshfield man reported after he noticed his catalytic converter was cut and removed from his work truck he checked his neighborhood for similar thefts. He reported he believes the vehicle in the driveway of a neighboring residence also had an attempted theft as the exhaust was cut but nothing was removed. Investigation to follow.

A Wal-Mart loss prevention employee reported a retail theft. She stated two individuals took off running from the store with several items of unpaid merchandise. She stated the suspects entered a white GMC Envoy and left the city northbound on STH 97. Investigation to follow.

May 22

A 31-year-old Marshfield woman requested a welfare check on her brother, a 29-year-old Marshfield male. The male had made suicidal comments and left his residence. Ultimately, the male’s roommate was able to make contact with him and relayed to officers that the comments were made out of context and the male was not suicidal. See taped report.

A 9-1-1 call was made from the listed address that an 87-year-old man was located on the bathroom floor and non-responsive. Officers and Marshfield EMS were dispatched. Life saving measures were unsuccessful and the man was declared deceased when the Wood County Coroner arrived on scene.

May 23

A 55-year-old Marshfield man was arrested for 9th offense OWI following a traffic stop. Officers stopped the man after a bicycle fell out of the back of his truck and officers observed other equipment violations. The man performed SFST poorly, gave a PBT of .152 and refused a legal blood draw. Officers completed a search warrant and completed a legal blood draw. The man was then transported to the WOSO Jail.

A complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend, a 30-year-old Marshfield man, created a disturbance at her home. Taped report to follow.

New Lisbon PD requested Marshfield PD officers collect a SANE kit at the Marshfield Medical Center ER. The kit was collected and placed into evidence at the Marshfield Police Department until it was later turned over to Officer Einwich.

Peterson reported the mother of his 4-year-old child was allowing contact with a 38-year-old Marshfield male which violated a Michigan court order. Contact was made with the 38-year-old who was with the 4-year-old and the 4-year-old’s mother, a 35-year-old Michigan female. Charges for violating the court order will be directed to the Wood County District Attorney’s office. The 35-year-old will also be charged with party to a crime.

A store manager placed $100 bills that had been used for payment into a “drop” system to scan them. Six $100 bills were rejected and shown to be counterfeit. The bills were taken as evidence and photographed. Possible suspects would be from other incidents from another business. Loss prevention will attempt to view video surveillance to determine when/who passed the counterfeit bills.

A local store manager reported a retail theft that occurred that he was made aware of by the loss prevention employee who had investigated the case. The suspect was not identified by loss prevention. Investigation to continue.

May 24

A 35-year-old Marshfield male reported to the Police Department to turn himself in on a valid Probation warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to Wood County Jail. Wood County Crisis was also contacted as he referenced suicidal thoughts. No further action.

May 25

A 40-year-old Marshfield female was taken into custody on a valid felony warrant through Marshfield Police Department. She was transported to Wood County Jail. No further action taken.

A 31-year-old Dorchester man stated his work truck was struck by an unknown vehicle while parked at Scotty’s Pizza. He stated he returned to the job site after lunch and noticed fresh damage on the back passenger side of the company vehicle. He stated it had to have happened at Scotty’s when he was there for lunch because he did not notice any damage to the vehicle this morning. He also stated that when he is parked at the job site, the passenger side faces the ditch so it would not have been struck while at work. Kory was advised to contact his work company and the insurance agency. No further information.

Norwood staff reported a 33-year-old Marshfield male was out of control. Upon arrival, the male was detained. Charges were referred through the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for Criminal Damage to Property.

A 55-year-old Auburndale female reported receiving potentially threatening and vulgar texts messages from 45-year-old Neillsville female. The female was currently dating the 55-year-old’s ex-fiancé, a 63-year-old Neillsville male. The 55-year-old and the male are continuing to have contact with each other causing the 45-year-old female to send the 55-year-old female several vulgar messages to cease contact. Contact was made with the 45-year-old female and she agreed to avoid future contact. Both parties were advised further contact could result in enforcement action.

A traffic stop was conducted on the corner of E. Veterans Parkway and S. Vine Avenue. Officer Fox and K9 Rika were requested to respond to the scene. K9 Rika indicated to the presence of a controlled substance from within the vehicle. As a result, a 25-year-old Marshfield female was taken into custody. The female was cited for OWI 1st offense. A request for charges is being forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for possession of Methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping.

May 26

A 32-year-old Marshfield woman reported she received a letter from her ex-husband who is currently incarcerated in Jackson Correctional institute. The woman stated her ex is not to have contact with her due to a previous court decision. The woman states she has received multiple phone calls and other letters from her ex that is causing her concern for her safety. Charges of stalking will be requested through Wood County DA.

A 42-year-old Marshfield woman reported her 12 year old was out of control at a local grocery store. The 12 year old was eventually transported back to her residence at which time she scratched and kicked this officer. She will be referred to Human Services.

May 27

A 36-year-old Marshfield woman reported her ex, a 34 year-old Marshfield male sent her concerning text messages. The woman was concerned for her safety and requested officers provide extra patrol around her residence. Contact was attempted with the male and a voicemail was left.

A 26-year-old Marshfield female reported she received an overpayment check by mail for an online order. The female deposited the check and returned the overpayment by overnight mail in the form of a money order. The next day the female was made aware the check had bounced.
