MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – August 6
Probation and Parole requested MDPD to take a 35-year-old male into custody for DOC arrest warrant. Upon making contact with the male party, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found. Charges were requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.
The Victim reported that he received a notification from Wisconsin Department of Revenue that someone attempted to apply for a grant with his name and SSN. The victim was given advice to contact his financial institutions and warn them about the ID theft. The Victim just wanted the incident documented.
The victim reported that he got into a physical altercation with his 24-year-old brother. As a result the brother was arrested and transported to the Wood County Jail for Domestic Battery and Strangulation. A request for charges will be forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s office.
August 9
A Weiler’s gas station employee reported that an unknown male individual pumped $75.00 dollars worth of unleaded fuel in his vehicle and then intentionally told staff his vehicle was at a separate pump which had a lesser amount of fuel pumped. Follow up to continue to identify the suspect and suspect vehicle.
A male who wished to remain anonymous requested police to check on an out-of-town male acquaintance that he dropped at Walmart in Marshfield. A short time later police located the male in the block of N. Peach Ave. A records check revealed the 41-year-old Menasha, WI male had a valid Winnebago County warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to the Wood County Jail.
A 65-year-old Marshfield man reported damage to his vehicle. The man suspects a 43-year-old Marshfield male of intentionally damaging his vehicle. The damage was consistent with a shopping cart hitting the truck and there have been storms going through the area recently. The location the truck was parked was on the far north side of the parking lot attached to the Festival Foods parking lot. Festival Foods staff will attempt to review video footage.
A 63-year-old Marshfield female contacted police and reported staff at the Lumberyard Bar and Grill had provided her a wallet they felt was left behind by a patron approximately two weeks prior, maybe 7-23-21, that they were unable to get on contact with. Law Enforcement was able to get in contact with the owner who stated the wallet was stolen when she was in Rhinelander. The owner of the wallet stated there was approximately $400 in the wallet that is now gone. The owner was informed to file a police report with Rhinelander PD in regards to the theft. The female was requested to see if there is video surveillance available in an effort to identify a suspect(s). The owner stated she will come pick up her wallet.
A larger SUV type vehicle, gold or tan in color, driven by a dark-haired female, struck and damaged a garbage can at 214 E. Edison St., then drove through their ditch and struck a yield sign causing it to bend, then proceeded e/b across the intersection and drove through the ditch of 513 N. Cedar Avenue causing ruts and slightly struck a tree before continuing southbound on N. Cedar Ave. There were several pieces of broken clear plastic suspected to be from the striking vehicle’s headlamp lens which were gathered as evidence. Based on evidence at the scene, it is believed the vehicle will have a broken passenger headlamp and driver’s side front bumper/fender damage.
A 29-year-old Marshfield male reported that sometime during the evening hours someone fired a handgun round through his garage door. The male stated at approximately 1:30 in the morning he heard what he thought was a firework go off outside. The male does not have any suspects. A neighborhood canvas was conducted and no one noticed or heard anything suspicious. A spent bullet was located on scene as well as additional evidence and confiscated.
August 10
A 29-year-old Marshfield female contacted police to report that she believed an ex-boyfriend was looking into the windows of her house and messaging her. Officers went to the area and located the man walking. The female claimed that the relationship with the man had been over for some time, but the man claimed that they were still in a relationship and he was checking on her. The female requested that the man be warned for his actions and for officers to tell him that she did not want any further contact with him. The man was warned and both parties were told to stop all contact with one another.
A 37-year-old Marshfield female reported that numerous times over the summer months furniture items have been placed in her yard by unknown individuals. The female stated that she will speak with her son in reference to the incident as she believes her son knows the possible parties involved. The female requested a report generated in the event the behavior continues, or becomes criminal in nature.
Through an investigation into the passing of several counterfeit bills, it was learned that one was passed at a Marshfield business. Investigation to continue.
A 76-year-old Marshfield female reported she believed her identity was stolen as she received mail about applying for a small business grant.
A 64-year-old Marshfield man reported he was the victim of a scam as he sent $400 of Apple cards to an unknown number.
A 46-year-old Marshfield female reported that on three separate dates and times, unknown individuals have been confirmed to be on her property, to include entering her garage, back yard, and back door of residence. At this time nothing has been taken from the property. Follow- up to continue for possible suspects and an extra patrol request for the residence as well.
A 41-year-old Marshfield female reported that the catalytic converter had been taken off of her vehicle.
A 45-year-old Marshfield woman called dispatch to report that a man approached her while she was leaving McDonalds and began swearing, yelling, spitting towards her and threw a soft drink at her vehicle. The victim was fearful and locked herself in her vehicle as the man then fled. A short time later officers located the suspect and he was taken into custody. The 26-year-old man was taken to ER for medical clearance and then transported to Wood County jail. Charges for Disorderly Conduct and three counts of misdemeanor bail jumping referred to Wood County District attorney’s office. Additionally a probation hold was placed on the man.
August 11
Menards reported a customer purchased 32 boxes of vinyl flooring. The cashier scanned all boxes brought up to the register by store staff however the cash register failed to recognize 15 of the 32 boxes scanned during the transaction. The customer paid the total amount due and staff loaded the flooring into the customers vehicle out in the parking lot and the customer left the property. Contact was made with the customer via store management a few days later after they recognized the error. The customer agreed to make arrangements to return to the store and pay for the 15 boxes which were not recognized during the original transaction. It was determined during my investigation that this not retail theft and ultimately a civil matter due to the circumstances of the transaction and verbal agreement management entered into with the customer for repayment. No further involvement.
A traffic stop was initiated in the parking lot of a Marshfield business. A female passenger exited the vehicle and the operator of the vehicle took off from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued and a 44-year-old Medford male was taken into custody at the conclusion of the pursuit. The male party was medically cleared and transported to the Wood County Jail. A request for charges is being forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for charges including possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, fleeing an officer, recklessly endangering safety and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as possession of a schedule II drug. The male party also was taken into custody on valid warrants.
August 12
A 31-year-old Marshfield female had brought her juvenile sister, who was a runaway out of Bakersfield, CA, to the MDPD. The female wished to pursue custody of her sister. Wood County DHHS became involved and after a conversation with the juvenile’s mother, permission was granted for the juvenile to be placed with the female until the mother could arrive in Wisconsin and take custody of her daughter. There was no mention of physical abuse currently happening.
