MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – January 21
While on patrol, a traffic stop was initiated and the driver was arrested on a valid DOC warrant. During the stop, K9 Rika performed an exterior sniff of the vehicle and indicated to the presence of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle was conducted and Officers located several psilocybin infused candy bars containing approximately 42 grams of psilocybin.
While attempting to make contact for expired registration a male driver fled on foot before complying with officers. The male who had multiple warrants had also given officers a false name and was in possession of Methamphetamine. He was transported to the Wood County Jail and a request for charges will be forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting an Officer, and Felony Bail Jumping.
January 22
A traffic stop was attempted after a vehicle was observed traveling at high rate of speed with no headlights or taillights on. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle continued to flee at a high rate of speed, The operator, a 19-year old Marshfield male, was taken into custody and later transported to the Wood County Jail as a result of the pursuit. A request for charges for fleeing an officer is being forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.
A complainant reported his residence was entered by someone without permission and his dog had gotten out of the residence. The complainant stated the front door to his residence was wide open. The residence was cleared and it was learned that the door latch does not catch and the door easily swings open. There were no signs of forced entry or foot impressions in the fresh snow leading to the door. The complainant was advised to repair the door knob or secure the deadbolt. No further action was taken.
January 24
Marshfield Police and Fire responded to a Marshfield address for a report of smoke emitting from the building. Marshfield Fire arrived and extinguished flames that were inside the residence. The 62-year-old male owner of the trailer was located deceased inside. Marshfield Police and Fire Investigators processed the scene.
January 25
Marshfield Police and Fire responded to the listed address for a report of a vehicle on fire. Police arrived first and found the listed vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The owner, had left the vehicle unattended for approximately 10 minutes while it was warming up. The owner came back outside and found it on fire so he used another truck to pull the listed truck away from the house as the siding on the house was melting. The owner did not know what started the fire. The person who reported the incident believed the flames were only in the front seat area of the vehicle when she first observed it smoking and on fire. Marshfield Fire extinguished the fire.
A 62-year-old Marshfield man contacted police after he he was requested to purchase a $500.00 amazon prepaid card and relay the numbers from the card to an unknown individual.
