Marshfield Police Department Reports

8.29.19 at 2030: A 38-year-old Marshfield man was arrested for Substantial Battery after he struck a 34-year-old man in the head with a beer mug causing the man to require staples in his head. The victim also received stitches in his arm from injuries sustained in the altercation. The 38-year-old man was medically treated as well, and then transported to Wood County Jail. Charges will be requested through the Wood County DA’s office.

8.28.19 at 1916: Complainant reported that a 29-year-old Marshfield man selected multiple items and concealed them in a garage bin, and then placed the garbage bin in the back of his pickup and attempted to leave a Marshfield retailer without paying for the items. The male was on probation and a hold was approved. The male was taken into custody and following booking at the Marshfield PD, he was transported to Marathon County Jail.

8.28.19 at 1814: An employee at a hair salon in Marshfield reported that an ex-employee signed for a bank deposit but that the bank deposit never made it to the bank. The complainant said that she spoke to the ex-employee who lives out of state and she denied having the deposit. Complainant requested that the incident be documented but did not wish to pursue any charges at this time. Contact was made with the female, who now lives in Washington state, who stated that she was responsible for the deposit but does not know the location of it or what happened to it. The officer encouraged her to look for it and return it, or there may be consequences in the future.

8.29.19 at 1400: Complainant reported that his son’s bike may have been damaged at the Marshfield High School. The bike was parked in the front of the school by the Fieldhouse and was surrounded by other bikes because there was football practice. At the end of practice, the rear tire and rear brakes had been damaged. The brake cable had been pulled so the brakes were inoperable, and the air was removed from the tire. This was the only bike that was tampered with. The son did not have any concerns with people or suspects. Information should be forwarded to the PSLO in case any CCTV is available.

8.28.19 at 1126: A Marshfield man reported that his vehicle’s back window was broken. Officers found that the window was broken, but it did not appear that anyone had entered the vehicle. There was no property reported missing, and no other damage was found. The complainant reported that he did not know of anyone who would have done this.

8.28.19 at 0849: A bicycle was found in the Marshfield Fire Department parking lot. The bike was brought to the Marshfield PD and the serial number was researched. The responding officer was able to identify the owner of the bike with the help of a local sports shop in Marshfield. Contact via phone was attempted with the owner and a voicemail was left for him letting him know he can pick up his bike at the Marshfield PD. No further involvement.

8.28.19: A 32-year-old Marshfield man was taken into custody in the 300 block of S Peach Ave on a valid Taylor County warrant for Failure to Pay Child Support. He was transported to Marshfield PD for booking procedures and then to Wood County Jail. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department was notified and will arrange transport from Wood County Jail on 8/29.

8.27.19 at 1748: A Spencer woman reported that she received a notification from the USPS stating that a rebate check for a local retailer would be delivered on 8/5/19, but she never received it. She contacted the retailer and they advised that the rebate check had already been used. The responding officer spoke to a manager at the retailer and was advised that they do have video footage of the incident. The manager contacted the corporate office to get a copy of the video footage. Further investigation is needed.

8.27.19 at 1641: A 29-year-old Marshfield male was arrested during a traffic stop after K9 Steffi alerted to the odor of a controlled substance within the vehicle. During the search, the male became resistive towards officers and took off on foot. A foot pursuit was initiated and a taser was used to apprehend the subject. During the pursuit the male attempted to discard 43 grams of Cocaine, and 200+ Narcotic and Non-Narcotic pills along with other substances. The male was transported to MMC for medical clearance. Charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Schedule II Narcotic Drug >40g, Possession of Schedule IV Non-Narcotic Drug, Possession of Schedule II Narcotic Drug, 3 Counts of Felony Bail Jumping and Resisting an Officer will be requested through the Wood County DA’s office.

8.27.19 at 1349 (Reported): The complainant reported that she listed an item for sale online through Craigslist and received response via email to purchase the item followed up with a fake check being sent to her via UPS in the amount of $2,950.85. The potential buyer wanted to purchase the item for $375.00 with a $70.00 bonus for the complainant to remove the listed item from Craigslist. The remaining $2,505.85 was supposed to be for shipping of which she did not agree to pay a third party for. It was discovered the check was fake according to her bank. No financial transaction was taken with the fake check.

8.27.19 at 1221: On the listed date and time a Marshfield woman contacted police after a juvenile took a vaping device from her without her permission. The woman told the juvenile to return the item, but he yelled at her and left the area on foot. Officers were able to the locate the juvenile a short time later and recovered the stolen property from him. Officers took the juvenile into custody and contacted Clark County DHS. The juvenile was released to his mother and a juvenile referral is being sent to Clark County DHS.

8.27.19 at 1133: A Marshfield woman reported that her neighbors were involved in a verbal and physical altercation outside of their apartment. The male that was involved fled the scene prior to officer arrival. He was later located and identified as a 31-year-old Marshfield man. The female was identified as a 30-year-old Marshfield woman. Both were arrested for their involvement in the incident. Social Services was contacted and responded to the scene to assist with two juvenile children. Social Services ultimately took custody of the children and the proper paperwork was completed. The male and female were transported to Marshfield PD for booking and later transported to the Wood County Jail.

8.27.19 at 1045: While at a residence in Marshfield, a 52-year-old Marshfield man shoved the complainant, a Marshfield woman, and punched her in the face, causing injury and pain. The woman did not consent to this and the male had pushed his way into the residence prior to the altercation occurring. The man also had a valid DOC warrant for his arrest and was located a short distance from the residence. The man was transported to the Wood County Jail. Charges are being forwarded to the Wood County DA’s office.

8.27.19 at 1043: On the listed date and time officers were dispatched to a residence in Marshfield after Wood County Dispatch received a 911 call. Dispatchers stated that they heard yelling and then the caller hung-up the phone. Officers arrived and they investigated and determined that children were playing with the phone. During the investigation officers had contact with a 35-year-old Arpin man that had a warrant out for his arrest. The man was arrested and transported to Marshfield PD and then to the Wood County Jail.

8.27.19: A 51-year-old Marshfield man was arrested on a DOC warrant following a traffic stop in the 600 block of St Joseph Ave. The male was booked and transported to Wood County Jail.

8.26.19 at 1800: At the stated date and time a Marshfield woman reported a man crawling underneath her vehicle. The male was gone when officers arrived. A GPS tracking device was located underneath her vehicle. The male was located and taken into custody for a Global Positioning Device-related charge and was transported to the Wood County Jail. Charges will be forwarded to the Wood County DA’s office.

8.26.19 at 1747: At the listed date and time, a Marshfield woman reported an identity theft.

8.26.19 at 0745: An employee of the Marshfield School District reported a motor home parked in the parking lot of the Marshfield School District Administration office since 8/23. Officers were able to locate a phone number for the registered owner of the vehicle and left a voicemail requesting it be removed ASAP. The employee will call back in a day or two if it is still on their property at which time the ticket and tow process shall begin. Ordinance has been made aware. A courtesy card was left on the windshield. No further involvement.

8.26.19: A 28-year-old Marshfield man was taken into custody in the 600 block of E Franklin St for a valid Marshfield PD warrant. The man was transported back to Marshfield PD where booking procedures were completed. The man posted bond and was released with a new court date.

8.25.19 at 1700: The complainant, a manager for a local fast-food restaurant in Marshfield, reported that a male subject complained about cold food he had received about 5 days earlier. The male threatened to kill the complainant and used other profanities as well. The complainant was asked to call law enforcement if the male entered the restaurant again so that officers can identify the male and possibly take law enforcement action.

8.25.19 at 1700: A 16-year-old Marshfield female reported that a 15-year-old Marshfield male was harassing her while she was at work. She stated she was a victim of a sexual crime involving the male, but the case was still pending. The woman stated she was seeking a restraining order and wanted all contact on file. Contact was made with the male and he denied any malicious intentions. He was advised to keep his distance from the girl to avoid any future problems.

8.25.19 at 1200: A Marshfield woman attempted phone contact with another Marshfield woman multiple times on 8/25 but was unsuccessful. The complainant arrived at the woman’s home and found her unresponsive. The complainant contacted her son, who arrived with his significant other. The significant other checked for a pulse, found none and then called 911. Marshfield Fire and Rescue arrived and determined that life-saving efforts would not be warranted due to the current state of the body. The indoor death scene paperwork was completed, and the residence was photographed. A coroner arrived on scene and conducted his investigation, and someone on behalf of Rembs Funeral Home arrived and removed the body at the family’s request. The coroner does not believe the death is suspicious.

8.25.19 at 0326: Officers were requested to respond to a disturbance between a 33-year-old Marshfield woman and a 32-year-old Marshfield man at a residence in Marshfield. Upon further investigation it was determined that the incident did not meet the requirements for a Domestic Abuse-related arrest. Both parties agreed to separate for the remainder of the evening. The female decided to stay with a friend to deter conflict. No further Law Enforcement action was needed.

8.25.19 at 0100: Officers were dispatched to a report of a possible home entry. Officers checked the area and no footprints were discovered in the grass leaving the residence. The complainant had been home since about 2130 that night. Nothing was taken, and the complainant stated that some things were moved around a few hours ago. The female said that she has another individual that stays there on and off. Officers attempted contact with the individual with no success. Follow-up to continue.

8.25.19: A 27-year-old Marshfield man was taken into custody on an active DOC warrant. The male party was transported to the Marshfield PD for booking procedures and later transported to the Wood County Jail.

8.25.19: A 23-year-old Arpin man was taken into custody on a Wood County warrant in the 500 block of E 17th St. The man was unable to post bond and was taken to the Wood County Jail.

8.24.19 at 2141: A Marshfield woman reported that a 38-year-old Marshfield female came to her residence and was verbally abusive toward her saying that she hoped bad things would happen to her because the 38-year-old was blaming her for showing the authorities a letter that indicated that the 38-year-old may be suicidal. Police are attempting to locate the 38-year-old for questioning.

8.24.19 at 1600: A Marshfield man reported that he is taking care of his neighbor’s mail because he is on vacation. When he went outside to gather mail one morning, he noticed his neighbor’s mailbox was destroyed and laying in the ditch. There were apparent tire marks that left the roadway leading into the gravel and then going back to the road after striking the mailbox. Photos were taken of the damage. Currently, there is no known suspect.

8.24.19 at 1440: A Marshfield woman reported that she saw a male subject break into her neighbor’s window and climb inside the house. Upon arrival officers located a Stevens Point man, who was later arrested for Obstructing an Officer, and an active warrant. He was booked at the Marshfield PD and transported to Wood County Jail. Charges are being requested through the Wood County DA.

8.24.19 at 0429: Juneau County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance with an investigation into a traffic accident and getting consent to draw blood from a 27-year-old Lodi, Wisconsin male. Based on his medical status the male was not able to consent to a blood draw. Information was passed on to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department.

8.24.19: A 30-year-old Stevens Point man was arrested for Obstruction during a possible burglary investigation. He was transported to Marshfield PD for Fast-Finger ID, which notified officers that he had a valid Marathon County warrant. He was unable to post the $750.00 bond and was transported to Wood County Jail.

8.24.19: A 28-year-old Marshfield man was arrested in the 2200 block of S Maple Ave for multiple warrants. He was booked at the Marshfield PD and then transported to the Wood County Jail.

8.24.19: A 19-year-old Marshfield woman was arrested during a traffic stop for operating without a valid license. She was later transported to Marshfield PD where she was booked and released.

8.23.19 at 1419: A 31-year-old Marshfield male was arrested for OWI following a crash investigation in which he struck a power pole in the ditch. During the arrest process he began resisting. He was transported to MMC for medical clearance, then later transported to Wood County Jail. A request for charges will be sent to the DA’s office for the male for Resisting Arrest and Bail Jumping.

8.23.19 at 0950: Adel, Iowa PD requested Marshfield PD conduct a welfare check on a 29-year-old man staying at a hotel in Marshfield. Officers contacted the man, and he did not report any issues and appeared fine.

8.23.19: A 27-year-old Marshfield woman was arrested during a traffic stop for OAR, due to OWI. She was booked at the Marshfield PD and then released with a mandatory court date.

8.21.19 at 1800: A Marshfield woman came to the PD lobby to report her overnight bag was taken from the front seat of her vehicle which was parked in her driveway, sometime between 1800 the previous night and 0900 the morning she reported it missing. She also stated both her prescription medications were in the bag. She said she forgot to lock her vehicle before going inside the residence, and she has no idea who would have taken her stuff without her permission. The officer filled out the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program form for the missing pills. No further involvement.
