Marshfield Police Department Reports

12.1.19 at 0814
It was reported that a 26-year-old Marshfield man created a disturbance at the Holiday Inn. Contact was made with the man. He was notified by police that he would not be able to visit the Holiday Inn in the future.

12.13.19 at 1526
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department reported that they received a 911 call from a 56-year-old Marshfield man who indicated that he was going to shoot himself and wants the police to pick up his body. It was determined that the 911 call originated from a residence on the 1500 W. Arlington St. Attempts to contact the subject were unsuccessful. The Marshfield and Wood County Special Response Teams responded to the scene. Negotiators were eventually able to make contact with the subject. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to the Marshfield Medical Center. Wood County Crisis Intervention was contacted. The subject was later transported to Norwood.

12.14.19 at 1927
A 56-year-old Marshfield male called to report receiving a text message that he believed came from a 45-year-old Marshfield man. The messages referred to the complainant’s wife being with the man and calling him derogatory phrases. The complainant is not to have contact with the younger man per his probation rules. The alleged suspect was contacted at his residence. He allowed the officer to look through his two cell phones and call attempts were made with no indication that the alleged suspect’s cell phone had been used to message the reporting male. The alleged suspect also denied having sent any messages. It did appear that the messages that had been received had come through a text app. The 56-year-old male was informed to report any new text messages and block the number he had received. Unknown suspect at this time. No further action.

12.15.19 at 0200
A 33-year-old Marshfield man was arrested for the theft of a wallet following an investigation. The man was placed into handcuffs, searched, and transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking. The man met the criterion for the misdemeanor bond schedule therefore he was released. A request for a charge of theft is being requested through Wood County District Attorney’s office.

12.16.19 at 0913
A 31-year-old Marshfield male reported that his vehicle was damaged sometime between 12.13.19 – 12.14.19. He suspected the damage occurred while parked at the parking ramp at the hospital. The damage only affected the rear driver side quarter panel. His insurance company was contacted and advised of the damage. Hospital security was contacted and were unable to locate the incident on camera.

12.16.19 at 1213
A 21-year-old Granton woman reported that a 42-year-old Marshfield women kept property that was borrowed to her. Contact is being attempted with the female, investigation on-going.

12.16.19 at 1550
A 55-year-old Marshfield female reported a theft of $20 from her outside porch. She stated the money was sitting on a table, under an ashtray, intended for the neighbor to pick up. She stated her neighbor did not receive the money, and suspects another neighbor, a 44-year-old Marshfield male, of taking the money. The officer was unable to substantiate the theft, though she requested the male be warned to stay off of her property. Contact was made with the male and he was warned of future consequences if he went onto the reporting woman’s property.

12.17.19 at 0101
A 60-year-old male reported concerns for a 64-year-old Marshfield male after reading a Facebook post. Contact was made with the 64-year-old who had taken an excess of medications and written a suicide note. The 64-year-old was medically cleared and transported to the Tomah VAs hospital.

12.17.19 at 0907
A 37-year-old Marshfield Woman reported that two checks belonging to her were missing and cashed on or around 12.10.19. She suspects a 41-year-old Marshfield female. Investigation to continue.

12.17.19 at 0956
An assistant manager at Walmart reported a note was found in the women’s bathroom at Walmart. The note was found by a female employee. The writing stated “Bomb 01-01-20”. It is unknown when the note was written. No suspects. Informational purposes only at this time.

12.17.19 at 1016
A 23-year-old Marshfield female contacted police after receiving numerous messages from her ex-boyfriend. She showed offers the messages, which included a photo of a knife and possibly a bloody bandage. She also stated that the ex-boyfriend had been following her around town in his step-father’s vehicle. Officers made contact with the ex-boyfriend and initially he denied the behavior. He eventually admitted to sending the messages and the photos and confirmed that he did not injure himself. The ex-boyfriend was warned for his behavior and was advised that he will be cited if it continues and that he will also be given a stalking warning letter.

12.17.19 at 1344
A 22-year-old Marshfield female reported that her employer’s general manager, a 37-year-old Wisconsin Rapids male has made obscene comments towards her at and outside of her place of employment. She said that the employer’s human resource department has been notified and she plans on seeking other employment options. Zahn said that she prefers law enforcement does not contact her manager at this time and would rather have this incident documented in case any further incidents arise.

12.17.19 at 1645
Officers responded to Marshfield UW-Stevens Point after receiving information from two students that there was a disoriented male with what appeared to be a handgun in his pocket looking for a staircase inside the building. Officers evacuated, cleared, and searched the campus for this subject. During the investigation it was learned that a local male was walking through the building and became lost and asked two students for directions. Officers confirmed the subject did not have possession of a weapon on campus.
