High-End Restaurant Being Considered for Downtown

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – A possible new restaurant could be coming to downtown Marshfield. Dave Krause of MRDG, LLC presented to the City of Marshfield Common Council Tuesday evening, sharing details of the potential project.

Krause (also of Forward Bank) spoke about a project that is being explored in Marshfield.

The goal with the project is to bring a fine dining restaurant to the downtown. “I travel to Wausau more frequently to take clients to dinner,” said Krause.

“We just don’t have that high end place that people are looking for,” he added. Main Street, the Chamber, and Visit Marshfield are all in support of this project according to the presentation.

MRDG is a Marshfield Restaurant Development Group has been recently formed to find and develop a location. The current location that is being considered is the High Street Building at 210 S. Central Ave.

The operation that is being considered for the project is Wish Steakhouse in Weston.

MRDG is providing an incentive to Wish Steakhouse to buy the building after 8 years for a cost less than MRDG paid for the building. MRDG is requesting funds from the City of Marshfield to offset their losses in this investment. The developers intend to sell the building for less than they have in the development by the amount funded through the agreement with the City. The request of the City of Marshfield is $160,000, according to Krause. Krause feels that this property is a blighted property, which qualifies it for City Funding.
